„I bless the rains down in Africa“ hat Toto mal gesungen. Heuer dürften sie es aber mit Norduganda etwas übertrieben haben. Laut Klimadiagramm sollte es im Oktober viel regnen, gefühlt sind wir aber schon eher bei der 300mm Marke. Eine Folge des Klimawandels? Vielleicht, die Einwohner spekulieren zumindest darüber. Es regnet momentan jeden Tag mindestens einmal, meistens stark. Das hat natürlich seine Konsequenzen, besonders die Straßen sind matschig bis unter Wasser, für mich als Radfahrer klarerweise nicht sehr angenehm. Mosquitoes lieben das viele stehende Wasser und vermehren sich blendend. Unser Regenwassertank (immerhin 5000 Liter) geht bei jedem Niederschlag aufs Neue über, da wir natürlich die Pflanzen nicht gießen müssen und für die Wäsche braucht man halt nur eine beschränkte Menge.

Aber nicht alles ist schlecht: Es gibt fast keinen Staub jetzt, die Temperaturen sind deutlich angenehmer für Mitteleuropäer und unser Basilikum wächst hervorragend. Im Jänner wird uns dieses Wetter wahrscheinlich abgehen.

According to the climate diagram it is supposed to rain a lot in October, but it feels like we are approaching the 300mm mark. A result of climate change? Maybe, the people are at least speculating. At the moment it rains every day, usually quite heavily. Of course this has its consequences, especially the roads are either muddy or completely under water,  making life for me as a cyclist raher difficult. Mosquitoes are also loving the many puddles. Our rainwater harvesting tank (an impressive 5000 litres) spills over with every new rainfall, since we don’t have to water the plants and we only use little for the laundry.

On the bright side: there is almost no dust now, the temperatures are quite comfortable for central Europeans and our basil is growing rapidly. In January we will  probably miss this weather.
