Was mir fehlen wird…

Diese Liste kann gar nicht vollständig sein, aber was mir so spontan einfällt:

Die tollen Leute, die wir hier kennengelernt haben. Eine lange Liste, sodass ich unmöglich alle aufzählen kann, also probier ich es lieber nicht.
Die Freundlichkeit (fast) aller Menschen. Gerade als Wiener ist das natürlich sehr ungewohnt.
Die unglaublich vielen süßen Hunde.
Ultimate. Nicht nur ein toller Sport, sondern auch viele tolle Leute.
Basketball, Flag Football und alle anderen Sportarten, die hier unkompliziert und rasch organisiert werden.
Unser Haus und unser Garten. Ist schon sehr angenehm, einen großen Garten rund um das Haus zu haben, wo man auch alles Mögliche anpflanzen kann.
PACHEDO. Eine ganz neue Arbeitsherausforderung. Nicht nur mit Höhen, aber letztlich doch lohnend und lehrreich.
Die Spontaneität. Man muss nicht immer alles 3 Monate im Voraus planen, manchmal reicht es auch am selben Tag.
Die Restaurants in Gulu. Der Service ist manchmal naja, das Essen aber immer gut. Gilt speziell für Anna Food Point.
Die Nationalparks. Murchison, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi usw. Alle einzigartig und alle toll.
Obst. Wassermelone, Ananas, Bananen das ganze Jahr über günstig und gut.
Alle meine Laufstrecken in und um Gulu.
Ziegen, Kühe, Paviane, Meerkatzen und alles andere Getier, das die Landschaft mitprägt. Außer Gelsen.
Der Sternenhimmel.
„Munu bye“ – bedingt, auf Dauer kann es auch lästig sein, aber rückblickend wird es sicher voll nett gewesen sein.
Der Markt. Gute Auswahl an Obst, Gemüse, Hühnern und allem anderen, was man im täglichen Leben braucht.
Die kurzen Wege. In 10 Minuten ist man mit dem Fahrrad, Auto oder Boda überall in Gulu.
Julius, David, Brian und Janet – weil sie uns das Leben sehr vereinfacht haben.
Das Wetter. Kein Pullover, keine geschlossenen Schuhe, kurze Hosen – zumindest in der Freizeit.
Das Nachtleben. OK, das war gelogen.

Ein Epilog folgt noch, aber zumindest was Gulu angeht war es das wohl.

WHAT I WILL MISS…

There is no way this list can be complete, but here a couple of things I can spontaneously think of:

All the great people we have met. A long list, impossible to mention all, so I won’t even try.
The friendliness of (almost) everyone. Especially coming from Vienna this takes some getting used to.
The many cute dogs.
Ultimate. Great sport, great people.
Basketball, Flag Football and all the other sports that can be organized quickly and uncomplicatedly here.
Our house and our garden. It is quite nice to have a big compound, where one can also plant a lot of things.
PACHEDO. A completely new work challenge. Not without its challenges, but ultimately rewarding and educational.
The spontaneity. Not everything has to be planned three months in advance, sometimes the same day is enough.
The restaurants in town. Service is not always great, but the food always is. Especially at Anna Food Point.
The national parks. Murchison, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, etc. All unique and all great.
Fruit. Watermelon, pineapple, bananas all year cheap and tasty.
All my running trails in and around Gulu.
Goats, cows, baboons, monkeys and all the other animals that shape the landscape. Except mosquitoes.
The starry night sky.
“Munu bye” – mostly, over the long run it can get annoying, but in retrospect it will have been great for sure.
The market. Great place for fruit, vegetables, chickens and everything else one needs on a daily basis.
The short distances. In 10 minutes one can reach anywhere in Gulu, be it by bike, car or boda.
Julius, David, Brian and Janet – for making our lives much easier.
The weather. No sweaters, no closed shoes, shorts – at least outside the office.
The nightlife. OK, that was a lie.
