Slowpitch Fundraiser

Vergangenen Samstag fand in Kampala ein Slowpitch-Turnier statt, um Geld für das ugandische Softball-Nationalteam zu sammeln. Leider war die Beteiligung aus der internationalen Gemeinschaft überschaubar (neben Lutz und Waci noch ein Amerikaner). Da aber genügend ugandische SpielerInnen teilnahmen, konnte dennoch mit vier Teams gespielt werden. Neben der Heimmannschaft aus Kyambogo (Kampala), waren auch Spieler aus Lugazi dabei, die 2012 bei der Little League World Series gespielt haben. Auch das Wetter spielte mit und bescherte SpielerInnen und Fans einen tollen Softballtag. Für den ugandischen Verband (UBASA) war dieses Event eine Premiere, es wurde jedoch schon angekündigt, dass solche Turniere von nun an öfter stattfinden sollen.

Last Saturday there was a slowpitch tournament in Kampala, in order to raise funds for the Ugandan softball national team. Unfortunately, the participants from the international community were few (apart from Lutz and Waci one American). But since enough Ugandan players participated, the tournament could still be played with four teams. Apart from the players of the home team Kyambogo (Kampala), there were also a number of players from Lugazi, who played in the Little League World Series 2012. Also the weather played along and bestowed a beautiful day full of softball upon players and fans. This event was a first for the Ugandan federation (UBASA), but it was already announced to have more tournaments like this in the future.
